I’ve had the honor of watching this little lady grow over the last 4 years (see a photo of her newborn-1year at the bottom of this post). We’ve captured all the big milestones in her life. When her Mama contacted me to plan a HaPpY 4th Birthday studio session I went to work planing! It was so much fun to see her face light up when she saw my bright lit studio FULL of white pearl balloons just for her! I had 5 dresses & an array of headbands & accessories for her to choose from. We chose her favourite music & she let me curl her hair & put on some pretty lip-gloss before she danced & twirled her way through the set. A break for cupcakes & a little pillow posing & she left my studio with the happiest little grin on her face. Pretty sure these photos will be treasured for a lifetime! HaPpY Birthday Miss Avery! LOVE you very much! xoxo

My littlest man just turned THREE! I can hardly believe how fast the last three years of my life have gone by. As a Mom of three boys my life is in constant motion, balls are always flying, literally & figuratively. Juggling those balls is a constant search for balance. I’ve come to realize that there really is no such thing as balance in this life. It’s all about learning to enjoy those special moments with your children between all the chaotic moments that make you question your own sanity.

This beautiful night spent with my little Hudson started off with an epic tantrum. I changed his nap schedule so I could keep him up past bedtime & when I woke him, dressed him & put him in the car for this sunset session he was not happy with me. BUT as soon as his little sailor feet hit the sand he was the happiest kid you’ve ever seen! He enjoyed his one on one Mommy time; playing with his boat & chatting up the locals at the pier, who couldn’t help but gush over how incredibly CUTE he was! This night I will remember all my life. A night I wish I could freeze time forever & never forget a single detail… His little voice, his tiny hands grasping stones & throwing them with pride into the water, his giggles & laughter. Forever ingrained in my soul, & now I have the photographs to bring back all these memories. I can’t wait to create a woodmount wall collection for his bedroom!

Hello Everyone! Over the last year I’ve had a chance to go back to my roots & work on Graphic Design projects for clients & businesses. With a background in Graphic Design I’ve found every opportunity I can to integrate it into my Photography. Mommy & Me sessions! I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see Mom’s getting in front of my camera with their children! This has got to be one of my all time favourite sessions. May is such a beautiful month here in Ontario! The trees are absolutely stunning & I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to photograph a good friend & fellow photographer in such a beautiful location!

It’s a very exciting time here at Life is Art Studios! My Sister-in-law is having the very first baby GIRL in our family! With my 3 boys + their cousin, that’s 4 boys! Needless to say, Auntie Jenn has been collecting lots of baby girl accessories for her newborn session & finally has a reason to shop in the baby girl side of the stores!

We decided to do a short & sweet Mini Maternity Session to capture this milestone. My Nephew’s not a big fan of Auntie Jenn’s Studio; you see, coming to Auntie Jenn’s house means playing trains with his cousins, & apparently that’s way more fun than playing in my studio. Despite the interruption to his playtime I managed to get a few un-posed family shots. Lets hope I can manage a sibling pose when baby arrives 😉

Adding a Mini Maternity to your newborn session is a great way to capture the love between your growing family, & of course that beautiful baby belly. Vintage Sample Sessions – May 2016

In the month of April Life is Art Studios ran it’s very first Sample Sessions! Vintage was the theme & the soft backdrop & pastel colours made for some absolutely beautiful art pieces for my clients homes. I’m happy to say it was a huge success & I was honored to meet some new clients who had never experienced custom Photography before. I LOVE having the opportunity to show clients what it’s like to be pampered with custom handmade clothing, beautiful props, accessories & even having their hair curled for the very first time.

I will be doing a blog post to show you all the ways in which these clients chose to display their images! Some chose woodmount collections, others ordered custom wooden frames & I’m very excited to know they will be proudly displayed & cherished forever!

There’s no doubt about it… when you photograph another Photographer & her children there’s a whole new level of anxiety that comes into play. Their children know all your tricks of the trade & they don’t fall for any of it. When planing this session the plan was to turn it into more of a play time than a portrait session. By adding a playful tent & some fun before we dove into the Mommy & Me portraits the session flowed nicely into some absolutely precious moments. Stephanie’s a great friend of mine & we often chat about how hard it is to step in front of our own cameras. As women we can be so hard on ourselves. It’s rare that we’re the ones in front of the camera & we’ve both decided it’s time to start practicing what we preach & get in there with our own children, so they have memories with Mommy to cherish later on.

With Mother’s Day coming up what better gift to give yourself & your children than memories that will last a lifetime. I’m so excited to be creating absolutely BEAUTIFUL printed products for Stephanie & her children to enjoy for many years to come! I promise to post some product images so you can see all the gorgeous keepsakes we’re creating with these images.And ended the session with a total keeper! LOL

Brantson’s parents purchased this beautiful Woodmount! I’m sure it will be hanging in his room for many years to come! (Teenage years… I can just picture his Girlfriend ewing & aweing over what an absolutely perfect baby he was!)I know newborn portraits look pretty easy, but a great deal of practice & patience goes into creating these types of images. Babies are completely aware the energy we give off. The best newborn photographers have invested a tremendous amount of time into workshops & courses to gain the skills and the confidence needed to earn your baby’s trust.
